Who am I anyway?

I’m Kat, an independent researcher, genealogist and digital storyteller, with a particular interest in military history, London’s East End, women’s history, activism and migration. I have had the privilege of working with private clients and on television series including ‘A House Through Time’ and ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’.

There are so many sources and amazing archival records in the UK which can help us to bring the stories of our ancestors to life.

I created who are we anyway? with the aim of connecting people to those who came before them. Allow me to work closely with you, journey through time and unlock the unknown stories of your ancestors.

"I’ve always been deeply fascinated by the lives of ordinary people and in the factors at play beyond the paper trail. My own great great grandfather fled Latvia in the 1850s and settled in London’s East End. His daughters campaigned for suffrage and his son lived out his days in an asylum with no records of his time there. Determined to find answers, this unlocked a love of research that helps me to leave no stone unturned. I approach each family story with empathy and efficiency, undeterred by a challenge and excited by the journey".
